What's the Deal with Commissions? by K-Koji, journal
What's the Deal with Commissions?
Something I've seen around Deviantart for awhile now, and I was curious as to what other people thought about it.
It seems so often I see many artists complaining that they cannot get anyone to commission artwork from them. They go to great lengths to try and sell their skills, and some even adjust their prices to next to nothing or DA points.
When people don't bite, they ask me, or on the forums, "What am I doing wrong? I only want 100 points and no one buys them"
There are many artists such as myself who sell art/prints etc etc because we rely on it as a part of our income, but many of these people still live at home, or are in school.

Found my Japanese friend missing for 10 years
Ok, Ryght, so, around 10 years ago I had a Japanese friend back in High School. He was over as an exchange student for a few months. When he arRyved, we anime lovers kinda heard the news and wanted to check him out.. cos me and my friends were kinda obsessed with Japanese stuff. Somtimes we would even speak gibberish Japanese to be more cool. So anyway I heard about this Japanese fella called Tomoo, he was a year below us and I really wanted to meet him but had no idea how... I have never made friends with a Japanese person before and was kinda nervous, so I just kinda brushed it off. Then one day.. my friend Ming somehow made friends with hi

In Toronto & on deviantART
No better living functioning evolving example of the new pattern in the creation, dissemination and education in the visual arts can be found than Imaginism Studios, the online brainchild of artists Bobby Chiu & Kei Acedera. Established in Toronto in 2005, the studio has specialized in pre-production character and concept design for film, TV, gaming, and publishing. As creators of some of the most wildly creative and whimsical images ever presented on deviantART, this artistic couple has built an international fan base independent of their contracted projects. Artbook publishing- how does it work?
I was asking myself quite a while how this might work...Haha no I'm not planning to do one yet (since I still need to practice a lot until then).
But I'm kind of curious how it all works, since I was able to contribute to a few artbooks and was wondering how much the printing costs would be and what is necessary needed beside the illustrations or the layout (I already now how it works fr designing the layout etc.) but which company would be good to print (since I live in germany & am scared that the costs would explode). Does anyone know how it works and would like to share his/her knowledge with us/me *^*
